Name the commercial role of the style

A core replenishment style needs a different conversation from a seasonal statement piece. Share whether the product is expected to be a volume driver, a brand signature, a lightweight layering item or a test for a new material direction.

That context helps the supplier understand where consistency, novelty, cost or speed should receive the most attention.

Separate targets from constraints

Targets describe the desired outcome: a soft handle, a clean shoulder, a defined rib or a particular drape. Constraints describe the boundaries: available yarn, target market, price position, delivery window or packing requirement.

When the two are separated, a development partner can suggest trade-offs without losing sight of the result the brand is trying to achieve.

List the questions the sample must answer

The first sample does not need to be perfect, but it should be purposeful. List the questions that would change the next decision: how the yarn behaves at the chosen gauge, whether the body recovers after wear, or whether the construction supports the intended price position.
