What Determines the Cost of a Custom Short-Sleeve Knit Polo?

There is no meaningful single price for every short-sleeve knit polo. A comparable quotation starts with the same yarn, construction, fit, decoration, order split and delivery scope.

Specify the polo construction before requesting price

Share the yarn composition or acceptable options, body stitch, garment weight direction, collar shape, placket, sleeve finish and fit reference. A fully fashioned collar, a flat knit collar and a separate rib collar are different constructions; a photo alone may not show the intended thickness or edge. Include measurements or a reference sample, and call out any details that are essential to the range. When you do not yet know the yarn, ask suppliers to price clearly defined alternatives against the same fit and appearance brief.

Break down quantities by style, colour and size

Provide the units planned for every style-colour-size combination rather than one collection total. Quantity affects material planning and production allocation, while a colour split can create separate yarn or dye requirements. State whether the order is a development run, repeat colour or new shade and whether the expected quantity may change after sample approval. Ask suppliers to show any minimums or surcharges against the same breakdown so a lower headline unit price does not hide a different order scope.

List branding and finishing line by line

Identify the main label, care or size labels, buttons, embroidery or other decoration, hangtag and individual packing you need. Attach artwork and placement references where available, then ask which items are included, optional or quoted separately. Describe the required packing method and delivery destination, but do not assume a supplier has included freight, duties or local charges unless the offer states so. Keep requested testing or inspection outside the comparison unless the same scope is priced by every candidate.

Compare complete offers and ask for project-specific pricing

Put each quotation beside one controlled specification and check currency, validity period, sample costs, unit price by quantity tier, included components, packing, shipment terms and exclusions. Ask the supplier to state assumptions and identify what would change the price, such as a yarn substitution, collar revision, colour split or quantity change. WTBF quotes against an agreed product specification and order quantity; send the polo reference, breakdown, delivery country and target arrival date to request an order-specific offer. Do not treat a generic price indication as a confirmed quote.
